Today Jon and I both posted our feeling about this day on social media. I think it is important to perserve those thoughts for my children, so I am sharing them on my blog to do just that.
Jon wrote the following:
I just wanted to take a moment today and thank those whom have put reminders up about what today means, or should mean to all of us. I have been thinking as I read these posts, not about what this meant to just me personally, or to members of the military, or to the Q Factor of firefighters and police officers, but more about how it's changed us as a nation. It's been tough over the past decade plus to watch our resolve wane and our focus drift off onto people, places, and things of little to no consequence. To be honest, the apathy toward defending our freedoms has at times seemed to me to be insurmountable. I feel sometimes as though we're leaning over a cliff of no return with some of our basic freedoms that we trade away for safety.
But as I read your comments, I am again recharged with faith in our futures. Especially the future of my children. I had opportunity to visit Washington D.C. last year. It was an amazing time to again visit some of our nations greatest places and symbols. What struck me, is how proud people in that city were of our legacy and promised future. I was again brought almost to tears as my heart swelled at the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the WWII Memorial, but especially the Korean War Memorial.
This nation is full of bright promise. A nation which was set apart by a loving God who expects great things of us. Our task is to carry on the work started in the Councils of Heaven before we came here. WE are the defenders of choice, of Agency. But the greatest fight we have is not outside of us, but internally. The fight is inside those who know what right is, but choose to say nothing for fear of offense. We are continually allowing evil to prevail, because it has not affected us personally yet. In the Councils of Heaven, we sided with our elder brother to continue to stand for the greatest of all of our blessing. We have the power to become literal Gods and Goddesses. Kings and Queens that are heirs to all that our Father offers us. Yet we continually allow ourselves to side with wrong, in order that we might not offend. We dismiss our own sacred Agency, in the name of public good, safety, and welfare. This fight, this terror, at it's core, is about forcing us against our will, to choose to live by a law that at it's base is the same plan that Lucifer presented in those councils. It is a plan, by which we all must be made to comply. It is an idea that dismisses our sacred Agency, and has convinced a radicalized and growing movement that people must be forced to comply and live a set of values against their will. To them, America is the great evil that somehow is keeping the world from realizing it's potential under a God that would force his sons and daughters into compliance, rather than encourage them the way a loving father would to choose good over evil, right over wrong, and internalize those Godly attributes which he holds and wishes for us to display and ultimately become. Satan's plan is to convince the world that no such possibilties exist for us, and that true order and a contrite heart comes in the form of total compliance to the blind following of people whom would call evil good, and good evil. Today we mark a day in our history where evil was shown to be exactly what it is. As we advance in the fight against terror and evil in this world, watch carefully that you might discern when your base understanding of what God's plan for us might be in direct...or worse, even indirect opposition to what is being posed as the solution to our ills.
This day changed all of us. I am in a profession today that I am extremely proud to be a part of, but what I am most encouraged by, are the sons and daughters you are sending to our ranks, who were six years old on this day in history, and have taken up the mantle of protection of these freedoms on foreign and local shores on your behalf. If you are not a member of the military, YOUR fight is equally, if not of far greater importance. YOU must maintain alertness as to what the leaders of our nation are proclaiming as right and true. YOU have the power to remove those who secretly despise our freedoms, and worse, are condescending in their attitudes toward what you Mr. and Mrs. America can comprehend in relationship to your own individual worth and freedoms. This day was a horrible day in our history. This day will mark our generation as the beginning of an escalation in the forces of evil and a gathering of the Adversary's angels of darkness against us. Make today instead a wake-up call. If you put, "We Will Never Forget" on your status today, be prepared not to make this day simply about the loss of those in the Towers, Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania, but mark this day as the day you were awakened to your sacred duty. The day you were awakened to become a literal emissary of freedom in our day and for the days to come. May God continue to bless us in our endeavors and place national and local leaders of good report in our midst as we continue to move toward a direct fight against those whom would question our sacred Agency and shield us from the eternal possibilities and Godly attributes and qualities we all stand to inherit.
I wrote the following:
Today we remember all those innocent victims who lost their lives, the firefighters and police officers who gave their lives to rescue others and the families who have been left behind to grieve. We honor those soldiers who have given their lives to fight against the evil that occurred that day. We remember those military families that have sacrificed so much. This nation will never forget nor will I forget, as that day started my family on a path that forever changed us. May we each take the time to kneel in prayer and thank our Heavenly Father for the continued protection/freedoms we enjoy. Please pray for those that grieve today. Please pray for the leaders of this great Nation that they may never forget the principles and freedoms that our founding fathers fought so hard for.
I pray as my children read these, they will be reminded of the freedoms they enjoy and continue to fight against those that are constantly trying to take away their free agency.
