So I know the title says Cinco De Mayo but really we had it on Sieta De Mayo. It has become a tradition in our family to have a big neighborhood BBQ on Cinco De Mayo. It starts out the week before when the kids help me make invitations and deliver them to all of our friends and neighbors. The weather can always be a surprise, sometimes it is sunny and warm others just plain cold. This year it was beautiful weather. The tradition is that everyone brings their own meat and a side dish to share. We always have such a variety of food. I make homemade chili verde and spanish rice. Once we are done eating, it is time for the pinata. This is the part my kids look forward to. Lucky for us this year the Stroups brought 2 pinatas. We divided the kids up in two groups, younger and older. The older kids were a blast to watch because Jon was moving the pinata everywhere. The kids did not know if it was behind them or in front of them. It is always a little tricky to keep the little ones back once the candy starts to drop. After the pinata everyone just hangs out and visits. This year there would be a huge exception. Josh Stroup thought it would be a great idea to start a water fight. It did not take long for the children to join him and everyone else, no one had dry clothes in the end.
