Jon has been gone for several weeks now and so Father's Day has been a difficult one for my kids. It started a few Sundays ago when Brother White started teaching the kids a Fathers Day song in Primary. Olivia ran over to me at the piano and was just fuming. She was so mad that he would teach her a song to make her feel bad. Didn't Brother White know that her daddy was gone and he was making her sad. She was ready to give him an earful but I calmed her down and just held her until time for class. It was then time for Izzy to come into primary. Brother White once again began teaching the older kids the Father's Day song. I looked up from behind the piano and saw big tears running down Izzy's cheeks. I knew at that moment we needed to find a way to celebrate Jon for Father's Day. After church it was decided that we would make no bake cookies and mail them to Jon in time for Father's Day. We made him two dozen cookies, wrapped them individually and boxed them up to mail on Monday morning. The kids asked him everyday if he got his surprise and were elated the day he got it. Jon is such a caring father. He is very good at helping our children understand their emotions. He loves to experience new things with them. On Sunday all the kids gathered on the air mattress to face time with him. This is the only time you will ever find my kids in one place, holding still and laughing. We are lucky to call him ours and love him with everything we have.
