We Love Governors Day!!!

We love going to Governors Day each year.  It is exciting for the kids to be surrounded by other military families and enjoying all the activities.  Governors Day always starts on the parade field where the General and Governor speak to all the Soldiers and their families.  Apparently it is a long standing tradition to inspect the troops and make sure they are ready for war.  I should really listen better so that I could give more detail.  After speaking and inspecting it is time to fire off artillery rounds and it just so happened that we were within 20 feet of the large guns this year.  When the first one fired Olivia was not quite sure, she grabbed my face and squished it right up next to hers and kept saying over and over "Oh scary Oh scary."   It was right after that a big C-130 refueling plane flew over the parade field.  It was so close you could feel the ground shake under your feet.  It fills my soul with such pride for our Nation when I get to experience something like that.  The best part is watching the kids react. Their eyes get bigger and bigger as the planes get closer and closer.  It is then time for the troops to march with their unit.  This year the kids got so excited when Jon's name was announced over the PA system as the commander for his unit.  Jon really cares about the Soldiers under his charge. Jon marched by and then the kids and I were off to participate in the rest of the days activities.

First the kids wanted to have their picture taken with the artillery guns.  The Soldiers standing there graciously agreed with big smiles after Livy called them all daddy.  It is hard to recognize your daddy when everyone is the dressed the same.  Everyone of my children has done that at one time or another.  I think all Soldiers are just use to it.

We started with Josh and Lexi riding the mechanical bull and doing the climbing wall.
Izzy and Livy headed over to the bounce house and slides.

We were then off to ride the zip line.  Lexi went first.
Then Izzy and Josh went together.  This was the first year Izzy weighed enough to participate.

Once they let go of Izzy she was not quite sure but she braved it out like a tough little soldier and ended with a smile on her face.

It was then off to practice being a firefighter.  Poor dummy dude being drug around all day.

After that Josh, Olivia and I had to leave so that Josh could get to his football game.  Jon and the older girls stayed a little longer to eat some yummy food and of course check out the black hawk helicopters.

What a great way to spend a Saturday morning.  I love this crazy and busy life of ours.
